Help us Support Nationwide Vaccination and Sterilization of Animals in Ukraine
Our amazing partner, Happy Paw, is dedicated to ensuring every animal in Ukraine can live well and find a loving home. This incredible non-profit organization
✔ provides food for over 400 animal protection organizations and volunteers, caring for ~ 95,000 cats and dogs,
✔ helps vaccinate and sterilize animals,
✔ renovates and rebuilds animal protection organizations and hospitals, and
✔ organizes bioethics workshops for children.
Recent Success
In a recent effort, this year (in March and April) we sterilized and vaccinated 59 animals — 33 cats🐱and 26 dogs🐶 in Kurakhove, Donetsk region and villages of Chernihiv region, Ukraine. While this is a small step in addressing the vast number of stray animals, it is crucial in preventing ecological catastrophe in long-term and curbing the spread of rabies. Last year (2023), Ukraine experienced a shocking 2.3-fold rise in animal rabies cases. By vaccinating and sterilizing these animals, we are working to stop the spread of this deadly disease among animals and people, creating a safer and healthier community, and decreasing the number of stray animals.
Current Challenges:
Animals in Ukraine, especially in frontline regions, face immense challenges. The ongoing conflict has led to a surge in stray animals, and resources to provide food and medical care are scarce. Without vaccination, shelter animals are rapidly falling ill due to the ease of disease transmission.
Our Goal:
In 2024 we aim to raise $10,000 to cover the vaccination and sterilization of at least 100 cats ($35 per cat) and 100 dogs ($65 per dog).
